वागर्थाविव संपृक्तौ वागर्थप्रतिपत्तये|
जगतः पितरौ वन्दे पार्वतीपरमेश्वरौ||
--> I salute the parents of the world, Parvati and Parameswara, who are inseparable like the "vAk" (word) and "artha"(its meaning); to gain expertise in the right understanding of the words and their meanings.
I indeed feel this shloka is beautiful...the meaning makes it so!
Kalidasa wrote it as the opening verse for a literary masterpiece "Raghuvamsam".

The "word" and "its meaning" have been compared to "Parvati" and "Parameswara"...
As Siva and Sakti cannot exist without each other....so cannot the word and its meaning...
The meaning makes a word meaningful...
Just the meaning without the word also won't make any sense...
so, they are indeed "the inseparable..."
Thanks for posting with explanation. This is a masterpiece that can be used in many ways. I use it to bless newly wedded couple that they two remain inseparable like the word and it’s meaning or like Parvati and Shiva.
